It is widely recognised that nationally, children looked after (LAC) and previously looked after do not attain on a par with all other children (e.g. Education Matters in Care, 2012). However, research shows that those with foster carers who are engaged with their education have a much higher chance of success than those who do not (e.g. Ofsted’s ‘Impact of virtual schools on the educational progress of looked after children’, 2012).
