Safeguarding Children: A Shared Responsibility Level 2

The safeguarding of children is the responsibility of everyone who works with children and young people. This safeguarding session is a single agency session and is only available to those working in schools. Bookings received from organisations that are not a school will be cancelled. If your organisation would like an in-service session delivered in your own setting on level 1 or 2 safeguarding please contact training@achievingforchildren.org.uk

Self Harm & Suicide Awareness in Children & Young People

“Self-harm is more common than many people realise, especially among younger people. It's estimated around 10% of young people self-harm at some point, but people of all ages do. This figure is also likely to be an underestimate, as not everyone seeks help.”

Attachment: Use in assessment - Level 3

This series of three courses will focus upon how an improved understanding of attachment strategies can inform work with children, young people and families, and offer an additional lens through which to attempt to understand their behaviour in the home, in placements, and in educational settings. The courses will also introduce ideas of how workers and carers for vulnerable children and young people can adapt their ways of working in order to promote best outcomes for the children.

Eating Disorders in Children & Young People

Eating disorders in the UK affect both males and females and in the most recent report published by the Joint Commissioning Panel for Mental Health in 2013 estimated that “over 1.6 million people in the UK are directly affected by an eating disorder. This figure is likely to be an underestimate of the issue. The illnesses most commonly begin in in adolescence and young adulthood with a worrying trend towards younger children developing an eating disorder.”

Attachment Narrative Therapy (ANT) (EVENT FULL)

This four day course will provide an overview of the Attachment Narrative Therapy (ANT) approach which consists of a combination of three perspectives:
• Attachment theory
• Systemic family therapy
• Narrative therapy and theory

The course will illustrate how these perspectives are combined into an integrated approach to treatment which is applicable to a wide range of clinical presentations. This interactive and engaging course offers an overview of how the ANT approach offers a framework for case formulation to guide the course of therapy.

Following on from the successful Beating Anxiety Conference in October 2018 , AfC’s Emotional Health Service will focus this year on Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE’s).
This conference is open to all practitioners working with children and young people across Richmond, Kingston, Windsor and Maidenhead.
