Introduction to Management

Event/course Code EDU 18/889
Event/course type Training course
Event Introduction There are many elements that make a good manager. One of the critical qualities is leadership - and leadership and management are complementary - but it is also important to understand how they differ. There are a range of skills and responsibilities relating specifically to management that must be developed to be successful in a management position.

This three day course will help less experienced managers, or those that have received little formal development in this area, get to grips with the management role. The course is an ideal first stepping stone for individuals looking to take their first leap into line management and for those who already have some management responsibilities.

This leadership course is delivered by a colleague commissioned by Kingston HR service. This course is accredited with the Chartered Management Institute, which provides a tangible management qualification to those successfully completing them.
Event Content This three day programme is aimed at supervisors, team leaders and first line managers who are either new to management or have received little or no formal management training. Critical to AfCs future success is the development of a strong and consistent leadership culture that drives the business forward, sets out and sustains challenging performance targets and builds a high achieving and engaged workforce.

The programme develops the skills that supervisors and first line managers need to enable them to become fully effective in their roles as smoothly and as quickly as possible to meet the organisation’s standards and expectations. It incorporates a variety of learning methods, including a range of psychometrics, 360 feedback and action learning.

Over the three days the facilitator will cover range of themes including;
• Leadership skills and styles,
• Coaching , how to use coaching in a leadership capacity,
• How to recognise and challenge own emotional state and resilience.

This course will be interactive and engaging and a perfect refresher for more experienced managers or next step for new managers. On completion of the course new managers will gain a better understanding of their role as a manager and the responsibilities this carries.

In addition managers will better understand how to lead a team with vision and passion. Not only will this course compliment the delegates ‘management toolbox’, it will ensure that employers are also able to benefit from this investment. Employers will have new managers with the competence and confidence to develop and perform in their roles, whilst promoting a culture of organisational learning and development amongst the workforce.

This is a three day course. It is essential that delegates are able to attend all three days of the programme.
