Recent media publication has drawn the public's attention to the abuse incidents where young girls have been subject to the procedure of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM).

It is estimated that every year 2 million girls around the world are affected by FGM with girls being from Africa, Middle East and South East Asia, but also some girls in the immigrant population of Europe, America and Australia.
