Assessment is at the heart of an effective curriculum and is a fundamental part of good teaching and learning. It enables learners to recognise achievement and make progress, and teachers to shape and adapt their teaching to individual needs and aspirations.

This is a network meeting for primary school Assessment Leaders from Richmond and Kingston schools. Meetings will be used to inform, update and network with other leaders on all matters regarding national and local assessment.

SPARK Supporting Two Year Olds in School Provision - Bespoke Training Sessions (Cancelled)

SPARK EYFS Leader Network

Maintained schools and academies and non-association independent schools that have Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) provision are given a separate grade for that provision as part of school inspections conducted under section 5 of the Education Act 2005 (as amended by the Education Act 2011). This contributes to the judgement about the overall effectiveness of the school. EYFS leaders play a key role in this, currently there is a greater focus on middle and subject leaders in Ofsted inspections.

The phonics screening check is a short, simple assessment to make sure that all pupils have learned phonic decoding to an appropriate standard by the age of 6. All year 1 pupils in maintained schools, academies and free schools must complete the check, as well as pupils who did not meet the standard of the check in Year 1.

It is widely recognised that nationally, looked after children (LAC) continue to have poorer educational outcomes than non-looked after children All maintained schools have a statutory responsibility to appoint a Designated Teacher (DT) for looked after children to promote the educational achievement for this vulnerable group of learners.
