Designated Teacher for Looked after Children Network meeting-Kingston

It is widely recognised that nationally, looked after children (LAC) continue to have poorer educational outcomes than non-looked after children. All maintained schools have a statutory responsibility to appoint a Designated Teacher (DT) for looked after children to promote the educational achievement for this vulnerable group of learners. Legal Training for Schools - Specificity and Outcomes in EHCPs

Fiona Scolding QC is returning to AfC to deliver training on specificity in Education, Health and Care Plans. The session will explore the legal requirement for specificity in plans, and the school’s role in providing advice to the Local Authority. The session will also cover responding to consultations, the parents rights to mainstream and issues aroung disability discrimination.
