Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) ‘is thought to affect 3–9% of school-age children and young people in the UK’ (NICE 2013). Training for New Special Educational Needs Co-Ordinators (Early Years)

This is a three day training course for practitioners in Early Years settings who are new to the role of Special Educational Needs Coordinator or shortly to take up that role.

The work of the first session will be carried through to the second session with opportunities to reflect on learning so far. The third session will build on the content of the first two sessions.

Assessing and Supporting Social and Emotional Competence: Implementing the SCERTS assessment - DfE SEND Project

The Department for Education has awarded Achieving for Children a grant from the 30 Hours Delivery Support Fund. ‘Makaton is a language programme using signs and symbols to help people to communicate. It is designed to support spoken language; the signs and symbols are used with speech, in spoken word order’ (The Makaton Charity, 2017).

Introduction to ADHD – Level 1

This course will enable practitioners working with children and young people and/or their families to increase their understanding of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). The course will provide an overview of what ADHD is and the impact it has upon school and home life.
