Music in the Early Years Foundation Stage (Cancelled)

From before the moment of birth, music and movement are integral to the healthy growth of the child, both individually and in connecting with other people and the outside world.

This highly accessible and enjoyable course provides the means for practitioners to foster that growth through the early years and beyond.

Practitioners will learn songs, rhymes and games that specifically address the three prime and four specific areas of learning and the three learning characteristics specified in the EYFS Statutory Framework (March 2017).

Physical Development in the Early Years (Cancelled)

The four home countries’ Chief Medical Officers for England recommend three hours of physical activity a day for early years children (‘Start Active, Stay Active’ report, 2011). It is good practice to have a mix of free play movement and some directed movement using both inside and outside areas.

Tuning in to Letters and Sounds

The Early years inspection handbook (EIF), which was introduced in 2019 has a renewed focus on the importance of Language, reading and phonics development.

The schools’ EIF states that “Staff develop children’s communication and language…staff develop children’s love of reading… and the schools approach to teaching early reading and phonics and ensures children learn to read by the end of Reception”.
