Attachment: Impact on Practice - Level 2 (Windsor and Maidenhead)

This series of three courses will focus upon how an improved understanding of attachment strategies can inform work with children, young people and families, and offer an additional lens through which to attempt to understand their behaviour in the home, in placements, and in educational settings. The courses will also introduce ideas of how workers and carers for vulnerable children and young people can adapt their ways of working in order to promote best outcomes for the children.

Promoting Positive Mental Health in Children 0-10 Years

According to the most recent figures from the Department of Health and Public Health England “Child and adolescent mental health disorders are common, they affect 10-20% of children and young people” (DfH and Public Health, 2015).

The most recent British Child and Adolescent Mental Health Survey in 2004 found that overall “8% of children aged 5-10 have and 12% of 11 to 16 have a clinically diagnosed mental health condition. Up to 25% of children show signs of mental health problems with more than half continuing through into adulthood.”
