|Event Introduction||Child development and the key milestones influence all aspects of a child’s life and wellbeing. Understanding those factors that influence child development will enhance your knowledge and skills in responding to their needs, behaviour and learning.
This course is a module of the CACHE Level 3 Preparing to Work in Home Based Childcare course. This aimed at those about to embark on a home based childcare career as well as those working as a home based childcarer wanting to refresh their knowledge.
|Event Content||This course is an interactive workshop designed to enable participants to discuss and share good practice and knowledge with colleagues working within childcare and those just about to embark on their career.
During the session we will explore the factors that influence child development including:
• Antenatal influences
• Perinatal influences
• Postnatal influences
• Poverty and Deprivation
• Family environment and background
• Personal choices
• Being a looked after child
• Accident, illness and disability
The session will also focus on the key milestones from birth to 12 years giving consideration to the difference between the rate and sequence of development.
We will explain how children’s learning is influenced by positive relationships and the environment and outline positive strategies for managing children’s behaviour.
This course is suitable for entry level as well as a refresher for existing providers, set at level 3.
Preparing To Work in Home-Based Childcare is comprised of 8 sessions and other sessions will be available to delegates who wish to extend or refresh their knowledge.
|Event Learning Outcomes||By the end of the session delegates will be able to:
• Describe the key milestones in child development for children aged 0 -12 years
• Assess their home environment and the influence this has on child’s learning and well being
• Describe a range of positive behaviour management strategies to implement in their setting
