eLearning: Signs of Safety Briefing

Event/course Code EDU 20/209
Event/course type E-learning
Event Introduction Achieving for Children has implemented Signs of Safety from 19th June 2017. The Signs of Safety model promotes strong relationship building and enables practitioners across different disciplines to work in partnership with children and families to maintain a focus on building safety within the family.

This eLearning is an introduction to Signs of Safety and will give staff and partners an opportunity to learn the basics of the framework, identify key tools and explore how to apply the model within all job roles.

Event Content Signs of Safety is a partnership and collaboration grounded, strengths-based, safety-organised approach to child protection work. Signs of Safety expands the investigation of risk to encompass strengths, it can be built upon to stabilise and strengthen the child’s and family’s situation.

Signs of Safety is an approach which focuses on the question, ‘How can the worker actually build partnerships with parents and children in situations of suspected or substantiated child abuse and still deal rigorously with the maltreatment issues?’

This eLearning is aimed at all AfC staff and people who partner with Achieving for Children.

Once you have completed the eLearning you may find that you want to attend further training which can be accessed through CPD Online and will be a 2 day training event.
Event Learning Outcomes By the end of the briefing delegates will be able to:

• Describe what Signs of Safety is and understand the basics of the Signs of Safety framework
• Implement Signs of Safety within their role
• Understand how Signs of Safety can be used as a standard model for communication
• Identify further training opportunities for Signs of Safety
