|Event Introduction||The Government has defined the term 'safeguarding children' as 'The process of protecting children from abuse or neglect, preventing impairment of their health and development, and ensuring they are growing up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care that enables children to have optimum life chances and enter adulthood successfully. Safeguarding Awareness Level 1 is suitable for those who have infrequent direct contact with children and young people, and may become aware of possible abuse or neglect.
Please note that this course is fully funded for governing board members of schools buying into SPARK Premium or Governor Support packages.
|Event Content||There are four sections in the Safeguarding Awareness module:
• Safeguarding Background
• If you have a concern
• Responding to disclosure
• Child Abuse Introduction
Each will take up to half an hour, and learners do not have to complete all modules in one session. A certificate will be generated upon successful completion of all four tutorials.
|Event Learning Outcomes||Those who complete this tutorial will:
• Know what is meant by Safeguarding
• Learn the background and legal basis for Safeguarding
• Understand the origins and core functions of Local Safeguarding Children Boards (LSCBs)
