Event/course Code EDU 18/732
Event/course type Training course
Event Introduction Developing strong time management skills is an essential part of working in children’s services. Staff are working in a fast changing business climate with unprecedented challenges, tight finances and customers with increasing expectations. It is therefore important that staff have the opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge in a wide range of areas, to ensure success in delivering the services our customers expect. This includes strong, effective time management strategies.

This is a full day workshop which aims to support employees in prioritising and organising their workload, as well as instilling techniques to make effective use of their time. In addition we have a range of courses available to support staff – from workshops that provide tools and techniques to help improve services, be creative, and capitalise on business opportunities to more practical tools for day to day use. So once you have mastered your time management, why not book onto our other fantastic sessions in this series.
Event Content Time management and the ability to prioritise are important skills, particularly in an era when the amount of work can often seem insurmountable. Managing your own time can often be challenging, particularly when there are a number of activities which all feel like they need to be completed at once. We know the effects of poor time management can have unwelcome consequences, including;

• Missed deadline,
• Poor work quality,
• Impact on professional reputation,
• Higher stress and anxiety levels.

Therefore, spending time learning about time-management techniques can make a significant impact on you role and importantly your own emotional wellbeing.

Once you have got to grips with the principles of time management you will see the benefits, but you need to commit to the actions. The key to successful time management is in the planning and enabling yourself to protect your planned time - which can often be difficult to get to grips with.The course will consist of a combination of presentations, group discussion and analysis of your own practice. It will be important to discuss why time management issues arise, how you can deal with unexpected issues which arise and how you can plan and prioritise your work.

Colleagues will have opportunities to share strategies for coping with workload and maintaining a healthy work-life balance. The session will be engaging and valuable, and there will be useful hints and tips shared.
This course is suitable for AfC staff and colleagues from external partner agencies.

The course has been commissioned by Kingston HR service.
